@h5e CoNgRaTuLaTiOnS!!! 💐
The dreaded catheter! I’m so sorry you’ve had complications, but, thankfully, they don’t sound dire.
Overlooking the physical stuff, how do you feel to be on the other side!? 🥰
My recovery has been a blessed thing so far. (🤞🤞🤞). The fatigue is real, and it’s only just now starting to ease up. But no complications so far, very little actual pain, and everything seems to be healing ahead of schedule.
I guess I’m on the other side of that curve from you this time. 😬
@nicole ooooh mentally it’s already amazing and I’m sure that will improve once I’m rid of that stupid tube!
Glad to hear you’re doing much better 😄. I never had any pain though, thankfully and surprisingly. Well except when dilating, I do have to take painkillers beforehand 😑 but then it’s manageable although not very fun, mostly. At some point I was like, why is this hurting more now and then I realised I stopped taking painkillers.
@nicole in case you’re interested, I document my experiences in this thread: https://tech.lgbt/@h5e/115523975470482367
@h5e I tried sitting upright today and slide right back over, so there’s still some distance to close there. ☺️
@nicole ooof okay, I have been sitting since two weeks after surgery or so, on firm chairs and not for long at first. Currently sitting is fine, but the acts of sitting down or getting up remain uncomfortable about it helps to shift positions or move to a different seat. But it gets better every day.
Cycling is even okay now, at least for 10 minutes or so. 7 weeks after surgery it was really challenging, now its only very comfortable for the first 500 metres, then it becomes mildly uncomfortable even if the path is a little bumpy. Haven’t gone far though.
I drove for the first time four weeks after surgery, that went surprisingly well (75mins) given how much sitting is involved. It’s fine now, I won’t go on a road trip but I can visit friends, work or the hospital on my own.
Since a week or two walking feels back to (somewhat) normal and I no longer walk like I’m crippled or something. It does lead to some trouble with my catheter though so I don’t do it much.
@nicole oh congratulations! Exactly 11 weeks ago (give or take 30 minutes) they were wheeling me into the operating theatre for same! Took me a few weeks to get rid of the fogginess as well, that was very surprising. And as of last week it so I am finally feeling I’m not too limited in my mobility to actually get out and do stuff although I still tire easily and sitting down and getting up are still uncomfortable. I seem to be on the wrong end of the bell curve 😅 (they said six weeks). And I still have a catheter due to bladder issues which suuuuucks.
How are you doing? I hope your recovery is a bit quicker!
