Got called in last minute on Friday for an art museum assist by @pauline. It was my third visit to the Ruth Asawa exhibit at the SF Museum of Modern Art, and I still found myself enthralled for hours by the artist’s mastery of space and vision.

I finished the core Ancillary Noun trilogy of Anne Leckie’s Imperial Radch series. I couldn’t get enough of the space opera coziness, and immediately dipped into Translation State, another novel set in the same universe.

Translation State was a delightful read: the stakes are simultaneously personal and galaxy-spanning; the core dilemma is a body horror that evokes aspects of puberty and transition. Cannibalistic kindergartners, biological essentialism, and serialized television drama, oh my.

I feel slightly dumber for having read this.

In no way is she a good dog, but I still love her visits.

Had a nice art day yesterday with some queers at the SF Museum of Modern Art.

#pocket used to have its office in San Francisco on Sansome St., near the Montgomery Street BART station. It evaporated during Covid like so many good things.

#pocket 2024. This photo was from the Pocket Team Week last year. It was the first and only gathering of the Pocket Tiger Team, and the last time an entire Pocket team would gather.

#pocket 2022. I took this photo at the end of Mozilla All-Hands. I’d never been the Hawaii before, and the long walks on the beach with coworkers and friends felt practically surreal.

#pocket 2016. I took this photo at my first team week. As a daily user, joining Pocket was a dream for me. I’d always wanted to work on something I actually used, and the product sat at that intersection of web client and news utility that I was already extremely invested in.
