@pauline and I, along with our friend Matt, were able to join the memorial services at Manzanar this year.
Manzanar is one of ten American concentration camps, where Japanese-Americans were held during WWII. The camp grounds are in California, near the Nevada border. At 4,000 feet, the atmosphere is thin, and the sun is blinding. Standing around, being cooked for hours on end, it was difficult not to imagine oneself on the surface of the moon: the terrain was as desolate as it was beautiful.
An Ohio woman who was targeted by corrupt local GOP officials after changing in a YMCA locker room has been found not guilty of public indecency, but the fact that the Republican responsible had faced no repercussions doesn't bode well.
This is how the eradication of trans people from public life will proceed. It's not some future possibility, as the case in Xenia shows us, it's happening now.
Accessibility isn’t something you add to your product. It is your product.
I think 90% of my job is trying to convey this. If the button isn’t labeled, if the text cannot be seen, if the action cannot be performed, then it may as well not be there for some subset of people. #accessibility #a11y
This picture is going to be printed in history books as a turning-point for transgender people in the US. The open question is, which direction will the turn be in?
I don't know, and I don't have ideas for what I can do, but we are on the cusp of big, scary changes that will affect everyone, not just trans people, not just minorities.
If you were waiting for a call to action, here it is. They just banned her from the MT House using the rules of decorum. What better metaphor for where we are?
Welcome to #TransTuesday! This week we’re talking about something surprising that recently came up and that I never anticipated being a thing, much less one to talk about. And it’s hard to describe, but I’m gonna call it: SEARCHING FOR MEANING WHEN YOU’RE TRANS (and don't know it).

Though, this episode was what prompted me to explain the “fridging” trope to @pauline.
It’s been nine weeks since #FFS.
Depending on the day, and the swelling, I’ve looked like a dozen different people. Some of them were cute; some, I wouldn’t want to meet in a dark alley; all of them: me.
I think I’m very Zoom-passable (until I open my mouth). The real-world is a very different, wildly mixed bag.
I’ll celebrate the Zoom win: that’s 95% of my presence.
Just learned today (from @golmac 's excellent Gold Machine blog) that acclaimed #Infocom Implementor, and creator of #Bubsy, Mike Berlyn passed away last month.
He was a true titan of game development. The ending of #Infidel - so controversial at the time - was one of the major milestones in bringing in-depth characterization to computer games. Rest in peace, and my condolences to his family. #adventuregames #interactivefiction
Nobody has to be on Twitter. Fuck that.
But my business!
No. What you’re telling me is that you have no risk management plan. That your business plan (or lack thereof) has a single point of failure.
So you don’t have to be on Twitter.
You played Capitalism poorly, and you landed on Chance, and you drew “Go Directly to Elon Jail.”
This is a shitty fucking game. I want it to die in a fire.
But please fucking admit YOUR choices are why you are on Twitter. It’s not beyond your control.
