Found out an acquaintance of mine doesn't buy books to read them, but only to fill up bookshelves so they look well read.

That might not be an acquaintance for much longer.

@JenWojcik I’m torn on whether this is better or worse than those who put books backwards on their shelves, so the spines face inward, for purposes of cleanliness and order.

Obviously, those who do both need medical intervention and most likely someone to read them stories before bed.

Honestly can't say which is worse either. Because I WILL judge a person based solely on what's on their bookshelf... and what's not.

Basic models of flocking behavior are controlled by three simple rules: 1) separation: avoid crowding neighbours (short range repulsion); 2) alignment: steer towards average heading of neighbors; 3) cohesion: steer towards average position of neighbors (long range attraction).
