Trying to figure out the posing in this photo. Like, what was the photographer going for exactly?

@nicole that's just so confusing. Only thing I can think of is the guy at the back is self conscious about his height and so wants the women to bend down to appear shorter than him.

Basic models of flocking behavior are controlled by three simple rules: 1) separation: avoid crowding neighbours (short range repulsion); 2) alignment: steer towards average heading of neighbors; 3) cohesion: steer towards average position of neighbors (long range attraction). With these three simple rules, the flock moves in an extremely realistic way.
